Antibody Production Process
We will ask you to pick an area on your protein which is of particular interest to you. We will analyse this area and let you know whether it is suitable as a peptide to be used in immunisation. If it isn't, we will advise you of this and allow you to choose another area, or make a suggestion of an area which we believe will work best. Once we agree on the peptide sequence, we will enter the peptide production stage. We will produce the peptide and couple it to KLH, ready for immunisation. You may have a full-length protein which you might prefer to use for immunisation. In this case, we will need to know how the protein was produced and the buffer composition. Your protein may not be suitable for immunisation, in which case we can ask you to purify or produce it again according to specification.
We carry out a 5-round immunisation process for best results. We produce your antibody in a highly regulated clean room, to ensure the best quality. The method for immunisation depends on the clonality you have chosen, monoclonal or polyclonal. The immunisation process usually takes 3-4 months. Monoclonal Antibody Selection For monoclonal antibodies, we then carry out a very important selection process, where we test which set of cells is producing the best antibody and in the most quantity. The best antibody is that which works well for all applications. If you have an application of choice, we can select the one which works best for your application.
We offer 3 kinds of purification: IgG/IgA purification, immunogen column purification and ammonium sulphate precipitation purification. You can choose whichever is most suitable to your needs and experiment. We are happy to advice you as to suitability but you will need to make the final decision.
