Propidium Iodide (PI) Staining Kit contains propidium iodide (PI), a red fluorescent stain that binds to DNA by intercalating between the bases. PI is unable to enter living cells, and so it stains cells that have undergone apoptosis, necrosis or fixation. Kit components:

| Directions for use | For double or triple fluorescence staining in immunofluorescence tests, PI staining is the last step after incubating the antibodies. For cultured cells, add 10 µl of Propidium Iodide Chromogen to 2 ml Dilution Buffer in the same tube. Mix thoroughly (dye concentration is 5 μg/ml). Incubate for approximately 5 minutes in the dark at 30 °C, then wash with PBS/TBS 3 times, 3 minutes each time. |
