Bicinchoninic Acid (BCA) Protein Assay Kit for detection of protein concentrations in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates and cell culture supernatants using a microplate reader. Cu²⁺ can be reduced to Cu⁺ by proteins in alkaline solution. Cu⁺ combines with the BCA reagent, forming purple complex which has a maximum absorption peak at 562 nm. The absorbance value is proportional to the protein concentration. The protein concentration can be calculated from the OD value.
