EDTA (Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) in cell culture acts as a chelating agent to bind Ca2+ and Mg2+, weakening cell-to-cell and cell-to-surface adhesion. It is primarily used to detach adherent cells, dissociate cells into single-cell suspensions for passaging, reduce cell clumping, and inhibit metallopeptidases. The formulation of this product does not contain Phenol Red.
