Aside from its role as a glycolytic enzyme, GAPDH is a pleiotropic functional protein involved in the regulation of gene expression, DNA repair and replication, neurodegeneration, pathogenesis, bacterial virulence and tubular bundling, as well as apoptosis and autophagy.
