Medium 199 (M199) is widely used in the culture of various animal cells, including some non-mammalian cells. Compared with other media, M199 contains adenine, adenosine, hypoxanthine, thymine, and other vitamins. It contains various amino acids and vitamins essential for cell growth, though does not contain proteins, lipids or growth factors. This product also contains 10% serum, 1% Pen-Strep and 2 mM L-alanyl-L-glutamine.
