Datasheet SDS
Nalidet P-40 (NP-40) is an octylphenol ethoxylate surfactant small molecule comprising a heterogeneous mixture of related ethoxylated species with varying polyethylene glycol chain lengths. This product is a non-ionic detergent commonly used for the lysis of animal cells and the extraction of native proteins, and is provided as a colorless liquid. For immunoprecipitation (IP) applications, NP-40 lysis buffer is recommended when the antibody recognizes a native conformational epitope. Alternatively, antibodies that recognize linear epitopes, such as synthetic peptide-derived epitopes, may be used with more stringent lysis buffers such as RIPA buffer, which provides stronger protein solubilization and denaturation.
